Colour measuring equipment

The Tintometer enabled a visual comparison to be made between the colour of a dye solution or a surface and the colour resulting from superimposing a series of very accurately graded yellow, red and blue glass filters. Colours could then be specified in terms of which filters were necessary to match a colour.

Over the next 100 years the instrument was modified in many ways and was sold all over the world. Today the Tintometer remains important in a variety of industries for quality control and chemical analysis.
