Fashion and colour trends

Colour trends are very perceptible and they attach themselves indelibly to eras, products and fashions:

 

 

1890 – the fashion was for quiet pastels, pale greys and fawn.
1900s – a splash of colour influenced by the impressionists.
1920s – black, white and beige.
1930s – surrealism and Van Gogh colours were introduced.
1940s – murky pastels and clear brights.
1950s – pink and turquoise.
1960s – street fashion and ethnic dressing influenced the palette.
1970s – dyers’ headaches with all colours possible and probable.
1980s – black.
