Optical colour mixing

When colours are put together to form a pattern the result can often be surprising. Colours placed next to each other can appear to mix together, producing an effect similar to mixing coloured lights. This effect is known as optical colour mixing.

The principle is often used by artists and the designers of clothes and other products to produce a variety of interesting effects.
