Colour illusions |
Colours
are rarely seen or used in isolation. When they are put together they
can play tricks on the eyes, seeming to mix together. This effect of optical
mixing was investigated as long ago as the 1830s by the French chemist
Eugene Chevreul who applied it to the production of colourful tapestries.
Today the same principle is used for knitted or woven fabrics
