What about white foods?

A lot of effort also goes into removing colour from some foodstuffs. White flour, rice, sugar and salt are bleached to give them the whiteness we associate with freshness and purity. This bleaching often affects the flavour and nutritional value of the food.

Although foods are rarely chosen by their colour alone, those that are identified with a specific colour are often accepted or rejected on the basis of that colour.
